Dawn is helping to change my own part of the world here in Bellingham!!! :)

I plan on decreasing my footprint on the planet by, recycling more, truning off lights, unplugging unused items, buying used (Value Village, Goodwill, Consignment stores, etc....), buying local, using the library, giving nonclutter related gifts, & researching to find more ways to help the planet. Hope you have a wonderful day. -dawn in Bellingham

From my pictures, you can see, I have been busy with the library. I just love how easy it is to place holds and check the library before I drive down there. It saves so much time, not to mention gas :)

Also, I have been using more Earth friendly cleaning products. My house sparkles so much more and I feel better knowing the items I am using are good for my kids as well as the Earth.

My family loves shopping for books, clothes & household items at Value Village and Goodwill. Not only do we find great deals, we are saving so musch stuff from going to our landfills

I continue to find better ways to help our world, I have also started knitting for charity. I feel so good knowing that I am knitting to keep someone warm.

I love the idea behind your blog and have read many many wonderful ideas. Thanks so much.

Sandi's doing a lot to touch her part of the world!!

My name is Sandi Orcutt and while my son was in Iraq, I helped with the starting of Word From Home, we send care pkgs to the troops. Attached it a picture of one of our meetings. I am also one of the managers of a Military Support Group that was just moved to Multiply from MSN called Our Home Support Our Troops. Right now I'm knitting Prayer Shawls for our Church. My Husband is a Volunteer Fire Fighter and I am a supporter and help run the Support Unit at big fires where we give cold water and snacks to the firefighters.

Lindy is a special young lady!!

CYT (Christian Youth Theatre) is a Christian theater group I have been involved in for about 3 years now. In addition to being involved in the older class, I come every week and help with one of the younger classes. We take stories (Princess and the Pea, Les Miserables, Oliver Twist, etc) and give them a spiritual twist. I help the kids with their lines, and do whatever is needed. During last year’s production of I was the assistant stage director. I was responsible for getting the kids on my side of the stage when they needed to be. It is such a wonderful opportunity for me, as I have learned so much about responsibility, leadership, and trusting God to give me strength to do what He’s called me to do. (Believe me when I say we witnessed many miracles!) I pray every week that God will use me to bless the kids. It may not seem like a very big thing, but for now, it’s what God has called me to do. The pictures are from Tom Sawyer last year. This year I’m helping with A Little Princess.

How Connie's keeping busy changing her part of the world

How Debra Is Helping...

I have been knitting up a storm of dishcloths, towels and shopping bags. I have been giving them to all the members of my family, my friends and their friends and family as a way of changing our world. With my contribution I hope to make the earth a healthier place for my grandchildren and their children to grow up in.

Susan is doing her part to help

Since April 2008 I have rescued 15 kittens and have gotten them placed in loving homes. I work with a local animal shelter where I foster these kittens 2 to 3 at a time until they are placed in their forever homes. It is an extremely rewarding job where I meet great people, love on precious kittens and help our over-crowded animal shelter.

Rosina uses her knitting skills to bless others

I have attached two pictures of things I have made this year for charity. Since I love to knit and crochet, and I love to give handmade things away, that is my small way of "changing the world."
In addition to what I do at home, I am an officer in our local chapter of Crochet Guild of America. Beginning next Saturday, we are going to the Wichita Children's Home to teach any interested children and staff members how to crochet. Some of these children just need someone to show an interest in them, and some need to learn a craft that will build their self esteem. And of course we guild members are always thrilled when we get someone else "hooked" on crochet! This is our charity project for 2009. This is our guild blog: http://www.ksmystitch.blogspot.com/

How Kim helps keep kids safe in cars...

We both hold certification for Child Passenger Safety (me as a
technician, her as an instructor).

Nine out of ten car seats for children are improperly installed. This
can mean serious damage or even death to a child who is not properly
strapped into their car seat and the seat not installed properly to the
car - in the event of a vehicle crash.

For the past few years, her and I have done countless seat checks for
parents who are expecting their first child or who just want to make
sure their child's car seat is installed properly. In addition to the
individual seat checks we do, we also attend regular car seat "clinics"
in the county where parents drive in and we (along with many others)
inspect their car seats.

We also educate parents on the importance of booster seats. Minnesota
law states that a child must be in a car seat until they are four years
old and forty pounds. Seat belts in vehicles are tested and made for a
160 lb. man. They are not made or tested for children under 48 inches
and 89 pounds. There have been many preventable tragedies had some
children been in an appropriate booster seat.

So, my contribution in our little part of the world is to make sure
children in our community are safe when they are riding in cars, and
that parents are educated to know what the seat belts laws are and when
to move their child to a booster seat.

Vicki is also using her own experience to help other women

I’ve attached a picture of me (my back is to you) at our Ovarian Cancer Awareness Table at the 2008 Women’s Expo in Phoenix. I’m a 3 year Ovarian Cancer Survivor and I go to health fairs, the expo, any community event to bring about Ovarian Cancer Awareness and Education. Because there is no early detection test women need to know the symptoms of ovarian cancer so they can bring them to the attention of their doctor.

Andrea's helping others by helping herself

I have changed the world by being a sober lady for 27 yrs and taking care of husb when he got sick, deathly sick and died.

Another Donna touching others through her own pain...

I am an RN recovering from breast cancer. I wanted to make a difference and give back so decided, through my church, to volunteer time at a clinic for underpriviledged people with health needs. What an awesome experience. We get to pray with our patients and spread the good word of Jesus, our saviour. I remember one lady that came in and appeared angry. She was verbally abuse to me which was different from most of the other patients. I smiled anyway and thanked her for coming in. At the end of the visit she started crying, apologized and asked me to pray with her. Her husband recently left her and she was having a very difficult time adjusting. We never know what people are feeling behind an angry facade. I am glad I stayed calm and was able to show Jesus' love for her.
This is one way I can make a difference and make things better for someone else even when I don't feel good.

Donna's Helping Her Mum...

I worked for 5 years for a local charity and recycling organisation, but I had to seek full time work, so that's history now. My out of work time tends to be spent on my family these days: my mum isn't as strong or alert as she was and she's alone since my dad passed away; and my DD's have flown the nest, one to Ireland where she has 2 little people, so I knit for them...

LOOK what we're doing to change our world...

This page is dedicated for those who have taken their own ideas of how they can touch the world around them for good... ways they can show a little kindness.... spread love around... or just be actively involved in 'producing good fruit'. We will be posting pictures and stories of what you all have been up to over the past year. What a wonderful way to say "I LOVE YOU" by paying it forward. :)

God Bless,
Rick & Sue
